The Recycling and Waste programme supports the organics sector across the whole supply chain:
  • Research and Development – facilitating co-operative research and development work in industry and academia
  • Technology Commercialisation – demonstrating capabilities of new organic waste treatment technologies
  • Sector Development – supporting companies who deal with organic waste and promoting the sector in the UK and overseas
  • Market Development – developing stable and high-value markets for organic products

Ongoing All Programmes

Technical and business support competitions:

1. Research and development grants for innovative new technologies or products, covering 50% of costs up to the value of £10k. Academic or industry partners can also be sought for successful R&D proposals.

2. Capital and revenue grants covering 50% of costs up to £10k to the fund the demonstration f new technologies in the region.

3. Technical or business support up to the value of £6k to suport the expansion or start up of any type of recycling and waste business.

4. Technical support for trias or demonstration projects involving the application of organic materials including compost and soils.

2005/06 Clean Merseyside Centre Woodlands from Waste project funded by WRAP and delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University and The Mersey Forest. Compost was demonstrated in soft-end use applications on  several brownfield restoration sites in the NW region. HR
