Organics SIG visits AD Plant
29/04/2009
The RNUK Organics SIG held its April 2009 meeting at the Biogen Greenfinch AD facility near Bedford.
The well attended meeting was kicked off by Simon Musther, Head of Commercial Operations for Biogen Greenfinch, who gave an informative presentation on the AD process and the experience of establishing the company's current facilities (presentation available here for members only).
This presentation was followed by a trip round the facility itself where the various processes were explained in more detail.
Interesting presentations were also given by Anna Becvar of Earthcare Technical and Sharon Russell-Verma of WRAP who talked about growing trials and PAS110 respectively. All of the presentations led to the usual high quality debate involving those present.
The update on member projects revealed that RENEW has just completed a review of food waste arisings in the North East (available to all) and REY is about to commence a commercial food waste collection trial in Bradford.
Chair of the SIG, Matt Hill, thanked the speakers and in particular Simon Musther and Biogen Greenfinch for hosting the meeting.
A note to the meeting, produced by Chris Hayward, is available to members here.
