The Remade Scotland work programme is being undertaken and delivered by the Caledonian Environment Centre (CEC), part of Glasgow Caledonian University, supported where appropriate by specialist consultants.
REMADE Scotland is a major initiative which seeks to stimulate, develop and strengthen recyclate material markets in Scotland. Supported by the public and private sector in a unique partnership, the Remade programme – the first of its kind in the UK - was launched in August 1999 and has a fundamental part to play in bringing about change, and improving Scotland’s recycling performance by supporting an emerging recycling collection and reprocessing infrastructure in Scotland and encouraging a more sustainable waste management approach.
Initially focussing on direct market intervention, the programme has gradually evolved to include supporting recovery of recyclate by LA collection schemes and ensuring supply of material meets demand from the end markets. This supply chain management approach has been strategically important for Scotland in helping to ensure that National Waste Targets on recycling are being achieved.
