Andrew Hartley - Chair
Andrew is currently Programme Director for Resource Efficiency Yorkshire (REY)
Andrew joined REY (Recycling Action Yorkshire as it was then) in June 2005 and has been responsible for developing the initial scoping studies into a detailed business plan, forming a new team and moving into delivery. A key focus area has been building awareness and attracting additional funding into the programme which has seen the initial £1.5m core funding grow into a £10m programme stretching forward to 2011.
REY is a not-for-profit, regional programme funded by Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund. REY stimulates the market for resource efficient products and helps businesses implement resource efficiency improvements, in short creating regional ‘demand’.
REY also works intensively across the supply chain in the environmental support sector, focusing on re-use and recycling businesses and environmental consultants which provide the ‘supply’.
In July 2007 Andrew was voted in as Chairman of the Remade Network UK
Andrew was previously Director of Strategy & Communications at glass industry trade body - British Glass. While there Andrew formed a new division within British Glass, responsible for the development of glass recycling and successfully implemented several new initiatives.
Prior to his appointment with British Glass, Andrew was Marketing Manager for Rockware Glass, where he was responsible for marketing and communications strategy. He was part of the team which more than doubled glass recycling within Rockware overcoming various technical and supply chain issues, leading to a prestigious Queen’s Award - Sustainable Development.
Andrew is also Director of ReMaDe Network UK Ltd, the company arm of the ReMaDe Network.
